Yes, you can trickle-charge most EVs from a standard 10A power point using the portable cable supplied with the car — but it's the slow, last-resort option, not a charging solution. A general power point and its circuit were never designed to deliver high current for hours at a time, night after night. Doing that repeatedly stresses the outlet, the cable and the circuit, and on older wiring that's where heat and faults start.
A dedicated EV charger sits on its own circuit, sized and protected for the job, and charges several times faster. For anyone driving regularly, it's the safer and more practical choice — and it frees up your power points for everything else.
The single most important part of an EV charger installation isn't the charger, it's the assessment behind it. A charger can draw as much as your whole house at peak times, so it has to be planned around what your supply and switchboard can actually deliver.

It depends on the spare capacity in your board and on the existing load in the home. We check the supply, main switch and available ways, and look at your other large loads. Some boards take a charger easily; older or full boards may need an upgrade or a load-management solution first.
